The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the General Ledger function for the UK entity, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with UK GAAP, and timely completion of month-end and year-end close activities. This role will lead day-to-day accounting operations, statutory audit support, financial analysis, and reporting requirements while partnering cross-functionally with internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation, review, and posting of journal entries.
• Review monthly and quarterly accruals and prepayments in collaboration with various departments to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Oversee reconciliation and maintenance of all Balance Sheet accounts and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
• Manage and maintain the Fixed Asset Register, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.
• Review and approve bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and intercompany account reconciliations.
• Oversee employee expense reporting, Concur administration, and Purchase Order (PO) processes while ensuring policy compliance.
• Partner with external auditors by preparing audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to audit queries for the UK statutory audit.
• Support the preparation and review of statutory financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP requirements.
• Prepare and analyze cash flow forecasts and provide insights to leadership for effective financial planning.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and financial compliance standards.
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including FP&A, Payroll, Procurement, and Operations to support business objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop junior accounting team members by providing guidance, performance feedback, and coaching.
• Allocate and review team workload to ensure deadlines and deliverables are consistently achieved.
• Support hiring, onboarding, and training initiatives within the accounting function.
Requirements
• Qualified Accountant required (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge and practical application of UK GAAP is mandatory.
Qualifications
• 8 - 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in General Ledger accounting, month-end close, and statutory reporting.
• Prior experience managing or mentoring accounting team members is preferred.
• Experience working within multinational or fast-paced environments is highly desirable.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and organize large volumes of information efficiently.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management capabilities with a collaborative working style.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP and expense management platforms such as Concur.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, and reporting processes.
