<h2>About Us</h2>

<p>The Senior Software Engineer on the Platform team will design performant foundational systems and developer integration tooling supporting our other backend software engineering teams: API, internal services, and data science. The Platform team's solutions better enable these teams to rapidly develop mission-critical solutions and applications for our customers and for our operations & supply chain teams, with greater consistency, performance, security, operability, and maintainability. </p>

<p>They will work closely with the DevOps team to enable reliable infrastructure, effective automation, and self-service. They rely on their own experience while performing additional research as necessary, to arrive at the best solution for each task. They have proven records being the tech lead on complex, cross-team projects, proactively raising issues, and resourcefully unblocking themselves to ensure projects are delivered with high quality and within the expected timeline. They can constructively debate any issue, persuade others with hard evidence while staying objective and open to changing their mind. In short, they will support the foundation of our entire engineering team’s continued success.</p>

<h2><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h2>

<ul>

<li>Design, build, and own mission-critical platform systems and integrations that support operations, fulfillment, data science, and other engineering teams</li>

<li>Partner with stakeholders and engineering leaders to define technical approaches, estimate effort, and break down large initiatives into incremental deliverables that enable faster, iterative delivery</li>

<li>Drive technical discussions, evaluate tradeoffs, and help the team arrive at practical solutions that balance business needs with long-term maintainability</li>

<li>Participate in the team’s on-call rotation, responding to production incidents, troubleshooting complex system issues, and driving improvements to reliability, observability, and operational excellence</li>

<li>Help raise the bar on code quality and engineering discipline through code reviews, testing, automation, technical documentation, and opportunistic refactoring</li>

<li>Participate in the interview process of other engineering candidates and contribute to hiring decisions</li>

</ul>

<h2><strong>Qualifications</strong></h2>

<ul>

<li>5+ years of professional software development experience</li>

<li>3+ years of professional Python development experience</li>

<li>Professional experience building backend services using Django (preferred), Flask, FastAPI, or a similar Python web framework</li>

<li>Strong SQL experience, including relational data modeling, raw queries, and performance tuning</li>

<li>Experience designing, deploying, and operating production applications in AWS or another major cloud platform</li>

<li>Experience translating ambiguous business or technical problems into actionable engineering plans, including technical design, estimation, and incremental delivery</li>

<li>Experience using observability platforms such as Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar tools to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability of production systems</li>

<li>Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code) to accelerate learning, improve development efficiency, and assist with debugging and testing while maintaining high standards for engineering best practices and code quality</li>

</ul>

<p><strong>Nice to Haves</strong></p>

<ul>

<li>Experience with operations, logistics, fulfillment, inventory, supply chain, or e-commerce systems</li>

<li>Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling (such as Terraform)</li>

<li>Experience with Docker and container-based deployment workflows</li>

<li>Experience with asynchronous technologies (such as Celery)</li>

<li>Experience with workflow orchestration or job scheduling frameworks (such as Dyrygent)</li>

<li>Experience using React or similar frontend frameworks</li>

<li>A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field</li>
