Why This Is a Most Loved Workplace® Certified Job
Systemic Collaboration
Trusting our Partners is the key. They are transparent and honest with our employees. Each Monday we start with a 9am meeting where they share information about what is directly and indirectly affecting KCSA Strategic Communications. We share client wins/losses, market trends and the effect on us and clients, employee shout outs, spotlights for lessons learned, and employee celebrations. They follow through on promises and work to find solutions for every person in KCSA Strategic Communications. Our employees trust they will do everything they can to make KCSA successful, which supports a positive vision of where we are going.
Positive Vision for the Future
Our values start with our employees. We believe employees who feel valued, trusted, and supported will produce better work. Our policies are built to support what’s important to them. We offer generous PTO, bonus holidays (Wednesday – Friday for Thanksgiving and the week between New Years and Christmas), Mental Health Days, and ½ Fridays in the summer. This allows employees to dedicate time to whatever is important to them, like family, hobbies, or travel. We offer remote work so employees can work from anywhere in the world. We accommodate flexible schedules to allow for time differences, doctor appointments, or kids concerts.
Alignment of Values
Todd Fromer, Jeffrey Goldberger, and Lewis Goldberg took ownership in 2016 and shifted KCSA’s culture to become more employee centric. They created a space where employees were valued, their lives outside of KCSA were as important as their work, and everyone’s voice was welcome. By putting employees first, they work harder and are more dedicated to KCSA Strategic Communications. This is evident in our growth from 23 employees in 2017, to 64 today. Of those 23, 12 still work here and one has become Partner. Danielle DeVoren was promoted to Partner in 2023 and continues to build on that culture.
Respect
We perform 360 reviews giving anonymous feedback to managers so employees can share their experience and managers can grow. We also provide an open door for employees to speak directly with Partners. As an example, an employee provided passionate feedback on a response they had to a current event. That employee was in opposition to KCSA Strategic Communications’s stance but felt comfortable expressing it to a Partner. The Partner listened, explained why he disagreed, but respected the employee’s opinion. Years later that employee is still dedicated to KCSA Strategic Communications despite a passionate difference in views because they feel heard and safe.
Killer Outcomes
KCSA has built a culture and infrastructure that allows all employees to collaborate with as many Partners, Managing Directors, and Senior Staff as possible, while feeling welcome to share their knowledge across teams. Our matrixed infrastructure allows employees to collaborate with different teams and clients, exposing them to each manager’s style, expertise, and experience. We encourage our employees to share best practices across teams and find new and better ways to work. Additionally, employees have the opportunity to serve on committees within KCSA Strategic Communications that help build culture, provide mentorship, or promote KCSA Strategic Communications!
