The Opportunity

DFIN (Donnelley Financial Solutions) is a publicly traded global risk and compliance solutions company — the force behind ActiveDisclosure and eBrevia AI — with more than 3,000 employees headquartered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Despite being a recognized leader in SEC filing and compliance technology, DFIN had virtually no employer brand visibility on AI platforms. ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini had zero structured employer data about the company. Candidates asking AI assistants "What is it like to work at DFIN?" received blank stares.

DFIN recognized that the future of candidate discovery is AI-first, and that being invisible to AI search meant losing top talent to competitors whose employer brands were already indexed. The company's leadership, under President & CEO Daniel N. Leib, decided to pursue a strategic partnership with Most Loved Workplace® and Best Practice Institute to build an authoritative employer brand presence from the ground up.

"DFIN delivers confidence with the right solutions in moments that matter. That confidence starts with our people — leading with integrity, transparency, and a strong commitment to collaboration."
Daniel N. Leib
President & CEO, Donnelley Financial Solutions

The Strategy

DFIN partnered with Best Practice Institute in 2021 for its initial Most Loved Workplace® certification, beginning a multi-year employer brand strategy that would eventually span five years and deliver a comprehensive suite of services designed to dominate every channel where candidates discover employers.

The partnership delivered ten integrated services — not just a certification, but a complete employer brand operating system:

1. CertCheck Assessment: DFIN completed the full employer brand assessment, identifying 22 certification areas they qualify for — from culture and inclusion to remote work and wellness.

2. Certification Portfolio: Over five years, DFIN earned 30 active certifications, rankings, and specialty awards spanning Women, LGBTQ+, Parents & Caregivers, Remote Work, Wellness, Inclusivity, Customers, and CEO.

3. AI-Powered Content Engine: BPI's AI content system generated 18 authority articles across 10 distinct content types — culture spotlights, job spotlights, workforce reports, career growth guides, DEI commitment articles, continuous improvement stories, employee review analyses, remote work deep-dives, and more. Each article targets high-intent candidate queries like "Is DFIN a loved place to work?" and "DFIN career growth opportunities."

4. AI Visibility Optimization: 1,238 AI mention checks were run across 6 platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok, Claude, Gemini, Copilot) to track and optimize how AI systems describe DFIN as an employer. Before the partnership: zero structured AI employer data. After: 5 of 6 platforms actively mention DFIN.

5. Employer Brand Toolkit: DFIN received a full suite of activation assets — trust seals for their website, embeddable widgets for their career page, QR codes for career fairs and print materials, email signature badges, and social sharing cards. All assets are personalized with DFIN's actual metrics and data.

6. Job Distribution Network: 25 open roles were distributed across 5 major job boards — Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Jooble, Talent.com, and Adzuna — creating 125 active distribution points where candidates find DFIN openings alongside employer brand proof.

7. Social Media Content: Platform-specific posts were generated for LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Facebook, and Instagram, each optimized for character limits, tone, and engagement patterns of each platform.

8. Competitor Intelligence: Continuous scoring and benchmarking against 5+ industry competitors, with DFIN maintaining a +35 point advantage on the BPI Employer Brand Strength Index.

9. Brand Activation Monitoring: 6 external signals were tracked and verified — proving that DFIN didn't just get certified, but actively deployed their employer brand across their career page, corporate website, SEC filings, LinkedIn, investor relations, and digital footprint.

10. Candidate Question Coverage: Content was strategically created to answer 9 of the 10 questions candidates research before applying — culture, leadership, benefits, career growth, DEI, remote work, interview process, company stability, and work-life balance. Competing employers average just 2.6 out of 10.
