<p class="isSelectedEnd">We are looking for a <strong>Senior Java Backend Engineer </strong>to join our Engineering team in <strong>Berlin or remotely from Germany</strong>. In this role, you will design, build, and scale high-performance backend systems using modern Java technologies and cloud-native architectures.</p>

<p>You will work on complex systems where reliability, clean architecture, and strong engineering standards matter, helping Atolls build backend services that can support growth across markets and platforms.</p>

<h3><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></h3>

<p>As a <strong>Senior Java Backend Engineer</strong>, you will:</p>

<li class="css-v55p23"><strong>Design</strong>, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using <strong>Java 17 </strong>or other recent versions (<strong>11+</strong>).</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Build and evolve <strong>microservice-based and event-driven architectures</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Develop APIs using<strong> GraphQL</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Work with <strong>Spring Boot</strong> and <strong>Spring Reactive (WebFlux)</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Design and optimize data models using <strong>MySQL</strong> and <strong>NoSQL databases</strong> (DynamoDB or MongoDB)</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability of backend systems</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Write <strong>clean, maintainable, and well-tested code</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Implement <strong>performance testing</strong> and <strong>end-to-end testing</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Contribute to architectural decisions and technical best practices</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership when needed</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Collaborate on AI-enabled features, including <strong>prompt engineering</strong> and backend integrations</li>

<li class="css-v55p23"><strong>8+ years</strong> of professional experience in backend development</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Strong expertise in <strong>Java 17</strong> or other recent versions (<strong>11+</strong>)</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Extensive experience with <strong>Spring Boot</strong> and <strong>Spring Reactive</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Solid knowledge of <strong>MySQL</strong> and experience with <strong>NoSQL databases</strong> (DynamoDB or MongoDB)</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Hands-on experience with <strong>Kubernetes</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Strong understanding of <strong>microservice architecture</strong> and <strong>event-driven systems</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Experience building and consuming <strong>GraphQL APIs</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Proven experience with <strong>performance optimization and testing</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Experience with <strong>end-to-end testing strategies</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23"><strong>Experience with prompt engineering</strong> for AI-powered applications</li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Excellent understanding of <strong>software design and architectural patterns</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Ability to design <strong>elegant, scalable, and maintainable system architectures</strong></li>

<li class="css-v55p23">Strong communication skills and <strong>excellent English proficiency</strong></li>
