<h2>About Databricks</h2>

<p>At Databricks, our mission is to help data teams solve the world's toughest problems—and that begins with empowering our own employees with exceptional internal products. The Databricks IT organization is a product-led engineering team building intelligent, AI-powered platforms that simplify how work gets done across Databricks. For Finance, our vision is to eliminate manual, repetitive work by automating complex business processes, surfacing actionable insights, and orchestrating end-to-end workflows. We are reimagining finance operations so teams spend less time processing transactions, chasing approvals, and resolving exceptions, and more time delivering strategic insights that accelerate the business.</p>

<p>We're looking for a SAP Developer to build the applications, extensions, and integrations that bring this vision to life. In this role, <strong>you'll write clean-core extensions on SAP BTP, build full-stack apps and Fiori experiences, wire up integrations between SAP and the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, and help embed AI and agentic capabilities directly into finance workflows.</strong> You'll work at the intersection of SAP and AI—shipping software that makes finance operations faster, smarter, and more automated.</p>

<h2>The Opportunity</h2>

<p>SAP will serve as the foundation for Databricks' core finance processes, including Record-to-Report, Source-to-Pay, and Order-to-Cash. As an SAP Developer, you'll be hands-on-keyboard building the layer that makes those processes intelligent: side-by-side extensions on BTP, event-driven integrations into the Lakehouse, and AI-assisted workflows that automate routine work and guide users through exceptions and approvals. You'll build with modern SAP and Databricks AI tooling—combining SAP’s core ERP capabilities with Databricks-native AI, agentic applications, and automation—while keeping the SAP digital core clean, scalable, and upgradable. Your mission is to turn designs into robust, production-grade software that combines the strength of SAP with the power of Databricks AI.</p>

<h2>What You'll Do</h2>

<ul>

<li><strong>Build Clean-Core Extensions:</strong> Develop in-app and side-by-side extensions on SAP BTP that keep the S/4HANA digital core clean and upgrade-ready, using released APIs and extension points rather than core modifications.</li>

<li><strong>Develop Databricks-Native Applications:</strong> Build scalable, full-stack applications and services on the Databricks platform that extend and integrate with SAP, leveraging Databricks-native capabilities, APIs, data services, and AI/agentic tooling to deliver modern Finance experiences while keeping the SAP core clean.</li>

<li><strong>Build Integrations:</strong> Implement secure, resilient integrations across SAP and non-SAP systems using SAP Integration Suite, event-driven patterns, APIs, OData v4, and change-data feeds into the Databricks Lakehouse, with solid error handling and monitoring.</li>

<li><strong>Embed AI & Agentic Capabilities:</strong> Build AI-powered and agentic capabilities into Finance workflows using Databricks AI, integrating seamlessly with SAP and other enterprise systems. Apply RAG, prompt engineering, tool calling, and human-in-the-loop controls to automate processes safely while maintaining governance and auditability</li>

<li><strong>Move SAP Data to the Lakehouse:</strong> Partner with data engineering to build the pipelines and extraction patterns (CDC, OData, APIs) that land SAP data in Databricks cleanly, with attention to modeling, lineage, and data quality.</li>

<li><strong>Engineer for Quality:</strong> Write unit and integration tests, work within CI/CD and transport pipelines for ABAP and BTP artifacts, participate in code reviews, and follow the team's security and coding standards.</li>

<li><strong>Collaborate:</strong> Work closely with the technical lead, functional experts, and product owners to turn requirements and designs into working software, and iterate quickly based on user feedback.</li>

</ul>

<h2>What You Bring</h2>

<ul>

<li><strong>6+ years of SAP development experience</strong>, with hands-on delivery of at least one end-to-end SAP solution (an S/4HANA extension, a CAP or RAP app on BTP with Fiori, or an Integration Suite flow) in production.</li>

<li><strong>Modern ABAP:</strong> Strong command of ABAP Cloud, ABAP CDS, and the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), plus OData (v2/v4).</li>

<li><strong>SAP BTP:</strong> Working-to-advanced experience with BTP runtimes, core services (Connectivity, Destination, XSUAA/auth), and deploying, securing, and operating apps on the platform.</li>

<li><strong>Front End:</strong> Solid experience with SAP Fiori concepts, SAPUI5, and Fiori Elements (OData v4).</li>

<li><strong>Integration:</strong> Experience with SAP Integration Suite / API Management and event-driven patterns (OData/REST, IDoc, Cloud Integration, Event Mesh) across hybrid landscapes.</li>

<li><strong>AI Fluency:</strong> Strong understanding of SAP and Databricks AI capabilities, with practical knowledge of generative AI and agentic concepts—including RAG, prompt engineering, grounding, tool calling, and enterprise AI governance. Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications and workflows on Databricks and integrating them with SAP is a strong plus.</li>

<li><strong>Engineering Practice:</strong> Comfort with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern dev tooling (VS Code, ABAP Development Tools in Eclipse, MTA/CF packaging).</li>

<li><strong>Clean-Core Mindset:</strong> Understanding of clean-core principles and why extensions belong side-by-side or in-app rather than in the digital core.</li>

<li><strong>Collaboration:</strong> Clear communicator who can work across functional, product, and engineering teams and take ownership of what they ship.</li>

</ul>

<h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2>

<ul>

<li>Domain knowledge in finance, procurement, or supply chain that speeds delivery and requirements understanding.</li>

<li>Experience extending or customizing Joule agents via SAP Build / Joule Studio, or building agents on SAP AI Foundation.</li>

<li>Experience building applications on modern data platforms (such as Databricks) that extend or sit alongside SAP.</li>

<li>Cloud-native experience—containerization and Kubernetes (Kyma), observability, and scalability patterns.</li>

<li>SAP certification in ABAP, SAP BTP, or SAP Build, and prior work in a high-growth technology company.</li>

Why This Is a Most Loved Workplace® Certified Job

S

Systemic Collaboration

As Databricks continues our rapid growth, we strive to maintain a culture as open and transparent as it was in Databricks’s early days. Making sure employees have regular access to our CEO and co-founders to hear directly about our vision and priorities helps our employees forge a connection between Databricks priorities and their daily work.

P

Positive Vision for the Future

Databricks’ culture principles are derived from an internal study of the behaviors that have led to high impact work at Databricks. These values have a direct impact on company culture and play a large part in connecting teams across the organization. We believe in being customer-obsessed, truth-seeking, operating from first principles, having a bias for action, and putting Databricks first. Our co-founders are fully involved in day-to-day operations, including business and technical reviews, working alongside our team members to ensure that we are always aligned with our values.

A

Alignment of Values

Databricks’ CEO and Co-founder, Ali Ghodsi leads by example with a focus on truth-seeking and first principles thinking, two of Databricks’ core values that stay true to Databricks’s origins in academia. He champions the importance of data and reason to question biases and inform decisions. Ali remains hands-on with research and development and hosts company-wide weekly all hands, with a CEO “ask me anytime” session at the beginning of every agenda. His transparency and accessibility are core to the open and collaborative culture of Databricks.

R

Respect

At Databricks, we cultivate an environment where all employees can bring their unique selves and are empowered to do the best work of their careers. To ensure all voices are heard and ideas are valued, we conduct annual culture and pulse surveys and host all-hands Q&As to collect feedback from all employees. We then report back to Databricks on the specific changes implemented from the feedback collected to ensure employees feel heard and that their feedback is valued. In addition, we invest in our seven Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that offer support and employee engagement events for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds and allies.

K

Killer Outcomes

Databricks prioritizes offering an exceptional employee experience by investing in tools, workspaces, and community-building. Our collaboration-first, hybrid model offers flexibility with in-person touchpoints like our annual employee kickoff, weekly CEO all-hands with happy hours, and monthly team building budgets. We are especially focused on maintaining a culture of transparency, honesty, and trust, with leaders actively engaging across channels like Slack and all hands while also championing inclusion efforts through ERG sponsorship. These initiatives help our team feel connected, valued, and empowered to do their best work.
