Airbnb is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer for the Guest & Host team. This role involves architecting and implementing advanced machine learning solutions, including recommendation engines, ranking systems, and intent detection models. The engineer will lead efforts to integrate intelligence into existing platforms and harness the power of Large Language Models (LLMs) to create transformative AI experiences. The position is remote within the USA, with occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites. The engineer will lead ML, Data, and Product engineers to drive ML applications, particularly in Messaging and Notification to enhance guest and host experiences.

Requirements

12+ years of software engineering experience
2+ years of experience in a Principal or Senior Staff Engineer role
Background in the design and development of scalable AI and ML systems and services
Deep passion for building ML-powered products
Experience owning and fostering engineering maturity in multiple organizations
Proactive, curious, and excellent communicator
