Someone called me, claiming to be from PLDT. The number was 02 8000 0000. They asked for my WiFi info and other details 'for verification purposes,' but I didn't give them anything because I wasn't sure if they were really from PLDT. They knew my name though, and introduced themselves right away. When I said I didn't recognize the number, they hung up. I called 171 (PLDT customer service). They said 02 8000 0000 is NOT a PLDT number. But I dunno if the person I talked to knew what they were talking about, 'cause they said only 8888 and 171 are PLDT numbers. But doesn't 8888 and 171 only receive incoming calls? Anyway, just a heads-up: be careful if someone calls from 02 8000 0000 and says they're from PLDT. If it's another company using that tactic, it's definitely phishing/a scam.
