As a Senior Workday Engineer at Lyft, you'll be the technical cornerstone of our People Technology team, owning the design, development, and delivery of the integrations, custom applications, and AI solutions that the entire People function depends on. This role uniquely combines deep, demonstrable mastery across the full Workday technology stack with an AI-native engineering approach, enabling you to build solutions that don't just automate what exists today but fundamentally raise the bar for how People Technology delivers value.</p>

<p>We're seeking a hands-on engineer who commands the full depth of the Workday ecosystem, from Studio and Core Connectors to Extend and Prism Analytics, and brings the technical judgment to architect solutions that scale with the business. You'll be the trusted technical owner of our People Technology platforms, partnering closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and Benefits stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions that truly move the needle. With AI reshaping how People Technology teams operate, your expertise will be critical in actively identifying, building, and shipping AI-powered solutions that eliminate manual work, accelerate delivery, and push our teams from tactical execution to strategic impact. In this role, you'll integrate LLMs into HR workflows, build and maintain MCP servers that expose People systems data securely to AI agents, mentor junior engineers, and set the engineering standard for a team that is redefining what enterprise People Technology looks like.</p>

<h2><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></h2>

<ul>

<li>Design, build, test, and maintain Workday integrations across all integration types: Core Connectors, EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder), and Workday Studio</li>

<li>Own the full integration lifecycle from requirements gathering through production support and ongoing maintenance</li>

<li>Architect and develop custom applications using Workday Extend</li>

<li>Build and maintain Workday Prism Analytics pipelines for data transformation, enrichment, and reporting enablement</li>

<li>Identify and build AI-powered automations that reduce manual HR and People Ops workflows</li>

<li>Develop and maintain MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers that expose Workday and other people systems data and actions securely to AI agents</li>

<li>Develop Workday reports (Advanced, BIRT) and calculated fields to support complex business logic</li>

<li>Build and support integrations with benefits carriers and PECI integrations</li>

<li>Conduct design and code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and drive integration best practices</li>

<li>Document technical designs, data mappings, integration specifications, and runbooks</li>

<li>Manage work items and track progress using Jira; maintain thorough documentation in Confluence or equivalent systems</li>

<li>Stay current with Workday releases and evaluate new features for adoption</li>

<li>Serve as the technical owner for various People Technology systems, including Workday, Qualtrics, Docebo, Udemy, and Greenhouse — accountable for their stability, configuration, integrations, and roadmap</li>

<li>Support the broader People Technology ecosystem by troubleshooting issues, managing vendor relationships, and partnering with HR stakeholders across all platforms</li>

</ul>

<h2><strong>Experience:</strong></h2>

<ul>

<li>5+ years of hands-on Workday integration experience across Core Connectors, EIB (inbound and outbound), and Workday Studio</li>

<li>3+ years of experience with payroll and benefit integrations including PECI, payroll interface,benefits carrier and third-party payroll system connections</li>

<li>2+ years of proven experience developing and shipping custom applications in Workday Extend, including custom business objects, fields, orchestration, and UI development</li>

<li>2+ years of hands-on experience building Workday Prism pipelines including source selection, transformation steps, and publishing datasets</li>

<li>Proven hands-on experience building AI-powered features, such as integrating LLMs into HR workflows, automating manual processes using AI agents that meaningfully reduce manual work and accelerate People Ops delivery</li>

<li>Deep proficiency in Workday Studio including XSLT, XPath, document transforms, and complex multi-step orchestrations</li>

<li>Experience with REST/SOAP APIs and Workday Web Services (WWS)</li>

<li>Strong command of Workday reports and calculated fields needed for Integrations and Extend</li>

<li>Ability to produce clear technical documentation including design docs, data mapping specs, runbooks, and integration guides<br><strong><br>Preferred:</strong>

<ul>

<li>Experience with Workato integration platform</li>

<li>Experience with building and maintaining MCP servers to expose people systems data securely to AI agents</li>

<li>Experience leading or supporting payroll migrations, including data mapping, parallel testing, and cutover coordination</li>

<li>Workday Integration Certification</li>

<li>Familiarity with Workday Orchestrate</li>

<li>Background in HR, Payroll, or Benefits operations</li>

<li>Solid understanding of the Workday security model including domain security policies, business process policies, and role-based, user-based groups</li>

<li>Experience working with or integrating Dayforce by Ceridian system</li>

<li>Experience supporting HR and People Technology workstreams during M&A, including system consolidation and integration of vendors</li>

</ul>

<p>Lyft highly values having employees working in-office to foster a collaborative work environment and company culture. <p>The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is USD $148,000 - USD $185,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
