<p>Lyft is looking for a seasoned and strategic Director of Tax to join our Global Tax Team! As a Director of Tax, you will lead and shape the income tax planning function, driving enterprise-wide strategies to optimize our global tax position. You will serve as a key leader and advisor across cross-functional business teams — including product, engineering, legal, accounting, and broader finance — surfacing tax issues, solving complex problems, and delivering actionable solutions while owning critical responsibilities.</p>

<h2><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h2>

<ul>

<li>Define and lead comprehensive US international and global tax strategies aligned with business objectives, minimizing liabilities and optimizing cash flow — including advising on M&A, new market entry, and structuring of global investments</li>

<li>Serve as the senior advisor on intercompany transactions, ensuring US and international compliance and tax efficiency in cross-border arrangements, including ownership of global transfer pricing policies and strategy</li>

<li>Lead research and provide authoritative analysis on complex US international tax matters, including Pillar II, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, and inbound and outbound transactions</li>

<li>Own the quarterly and annual income tax provision process as the senior subject matter expert for US international tax under ASC 740</li>

<li>Oversee the quantification and management of tax reserves in compliance with ASC 450</li>

<li>Build and manage relationships with third-party service providers, and serve as a strategic partner to Lyft's finance, accounting, product, engineering, HR, and legal teams to ensure all tax requirements are met</li>

<li>Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, development, and collaboration</li>

<li>Anticipate and adapt to shifting regulatory landscapes and business priorities; proactively identify and communicate tax risk and opportunity to senior leadership</li>

<li>Monitor and assess tax law changes impacting Lyft's business, analyzing legislation, leading scenario modeling, and translating complex tax matters into clear guidance for executive stakeholders</li>

</ul>

<h2><strong>Experience</strong></h2>

<ul>

<li>12+ years of progressive corporate income tax experience, with a strong focus on tax planning for multinational corporations with operations in EMEA and APAC</li>

<li>Demonstrated leadership experience managing tax professionals and cross-functional initiatives at scale</li>

<li>Deep expertise in US international tax and transfer pricing principles and their application to technology businesses</li>

<li>Proven track record developing tax forecasts and building sophisticated tax models to support strategic decision-making</li>

<li>Strong technical knowledge of ASC 740 and ASC 450</li>

<li>Established ability to cultivate executive-level relationships and communicate complex tax matters clearly to all levels of the organization</li>

<li>Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment</li>

<li>Demonstrated ability to balance individual ownership and accountability with broad cross-functional collaboration</li>

<li>Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex tax topics for non-tax business partners</li>

<li>Strong attention to detail with an unwavering commitment to accuracy and compliance</li>

<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite; experience with accounting systems are a plus</li>

</ul>

<h2><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></h2>

<ul>

<li>CPA, JD, or LLM in Taxation</li>

<li>Combined Big 4 or law firm and technology industry experience</li>

<li>Accounting system experience (Oracle or similar ERP)</li>

<p><em>The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $192,000 - $240,000. In addition to the base pay, this role is eligible for competitive equity awards, bonuses, and benefits.
