Most Loved Workplace® Certified JobAbout the Role
At Marble, a Most Loved Workplace® certified employer in the Media/Publishing space, Turning moments into legacies through creatively optimistic brand experiences.
About Marble Marble is a climate tech venture studio. We partner with scientists, engineers, and operators to create companies solving hard climate problems in the world's largest industries. Our first 13 companies are building transformative products across energy, industry, agriculture, and climate resilience. 100% have been successful in raising follow-on to date. We are looking to partner with exceptional individuals to create our next venture. The Dream: Affordable Clean Steel Steel is responsible for 8 - 10% of global emissions with roughly 2.6 Gt of direct CO₂ emissions annually. The demand for steel is expected to rise as much as 30% by 2050, but incumbent pathways each face barriers that make decarbonization extremely difficult. Emergent “green” production technologies produce steel at large cost premiums and face scale-up challenges. Today , no existing ironmaking technology simultaneously: (1) achieves deep emissions cuts; (2) scales economically to multi-megaton plants; (3) leverages existing energy and material supply chains; and (4) is cost-competitive without subsidies. The Opportunity We’re developing a novel ironmaking technology that produces low-emission iron at cost parity with today’s highly emitting incumbents — without green hydrogen or CCS. Our process: Is cost-competitive with incumbents, with no green premium Leverages existing energy and raw material supply chains Slashes emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional ironmaking Generates a saleable co-product that can further improve margins We are currently working on an experimental proof-of-concept and will be starting engineering for our pilot project later this year. We’re seeking an entrepreneurial CEO & Co-Founder with experience in large industrial processes to lead commercialization, fundraising, and scale-up. You’ll own the commercial roadmap, capital strategy, partner and customer engagement, and overall company direction. You’ll partner with the CTO & Co-Founder , a former Lead Technology Development Engineer at Carbon Engineering (DAC) and mechanical engineer from MIT with early-stage startup experience. Requirements You’re motivated to build an industrial hard tech company from the ground up. You understand heavy industry, but think like an entrepreneur. Strong candidates will have several of the following: Commercial experience in a relevant sector (e.g., metals, mining, cement, lime, minerals, oil & gas, or related industrial processes), such as business development, strategic partnerships, or project development A track record of securing customers and building partnerships with major industrial players Experience raising capital from venture, strategic, and non-dilutive sources An entrepreneurial streak evidenced by founding, operating, or scaling an early-stage venture You’re encouraged to apply even if your background isn’t a perfect match. Above all, we value intelligence, creativity, and drive. Location : Vancouver / Squamish, BC, Canada What We Offer As CEO & Co-Founder, you will partner with the existing founder who has been developing the technology as a Marble Founder-in-Residence. We offer (among other things): Founding equity stake Full-stack support from Marble's existing investors and network Mentorship and guidance at every step of the way Access to an unparalleled network across science, industry, talent, investors, mentors, and other climate deep tech founders Seed fundraising support: Introductions to the best seed investors and help with term sheet negotiation Relocation support to target geographies: Vancouver / Squamish, BC, Canada We believe that a diverse group of minds is key to solving the climate crisis. We encourage women and people of colour to apply. Studies have shown that under-represented candidates are less likely to apply for an opportunity unless they feel they meet every single qualification. We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive and mission-driven cohort. If you’re excited about the programme but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with what you read on our website, we encourage you to apply anyways!
