<p>The Billing Configuration team enables extensibility of all Billing concepts and owns the core infrastructure needed to manage configuration changes over time and custom billing logic use cases.</p>

<h2><strong>What you'll do</strong></h2>

<p>As the engineering manager for Billing Configuration, you’ll own the operational and technical direction of the platforms that let Stripe users and internal teams model, customize, and evolve how billing works. You’ll lead the team building the foundational configuration layer for Stripe Billing, enabling flexible products, pricing, eligibility, entitlements, and billing behavior. This team enables complex custom use cases and configuration changes over time. You’ll shape the team as it expands to support increasingly sophisticated use cases, working closely with internal and external customers to build reliable, extensible systems that make Stripe Billing adaptable to the real world.</p>

<li>Own the technical strategy and roadmap for billing configuration</li>

<li>Drive operational excellence across billing infrastructure systems</li>

<li>Hire and develop engineers as the team expands into new scope</li>

<li>Partner with stakeholders across organizations to deliver billing solutions</li>

<li>Work backwards from internal and external customer needs to define priorities and scope</li>

<li>Define and uphold engineering standards across a team owning business-critical billing infrastructure</li>

<h2><strong>Who you are</strong></h2>

<p>We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.</p>

<h3><strong>Minimum requirements</strong></h3>

<ul>

<li>4+ years of engineering management experience, directly managing and growing teams of 5+ engineers focused on building and shipping products at scale</li>

<li>8+ years of full-time software development experience</li>

<li>Track record of leading engineering teams responsible for high-traffic, low-latency, and extensible systems</li>

<li>Deep user empathy with a history of working backwards from internal and external customer needs</li>

<li>Proven ability to drive rigorous decision-making and build strong partnerships across teams</li>

<li>Ability to handle ambiguity, creatively solve complex challenges, and execute on competing high-impact priorities</li>

<li>Demonstrated focus on system reliability, operational health, and incident response</li>

</ul>

<h3><strong>Preferred qualifications</strong></h3>

<ul>

<li>Experience building and leading distributed teams across multiple locations and time zones </li>

<li>Track record of delivering shared infrastructure across multiple business units</li>

<li>Background in billing, metering, or large-scale distributed systems</li>
