In today's video, we're going to go over using Artillery with Playwright. This is going to be a mini YouTube series where the first video will cover what Artillery is, what Playwright is, setting up a basic Playwright JavaScript test, and then using that for Artillery. Future videos will cover using existing Playwright TypeScript tests as Artillery synthetics or load tests, and metrics and reporting to efficiently use Artillery with Playwright. Artillery is a modern and powerful performance testing toolkit used to ship scalable applications, ensuring they stay performant and resilient under high load. Playwright is a modern browser automation framework created by Microsoft. Artillery can run Playwright-based scripts for load or synthetic tests, providing a useful abstraction for testing dynamic web apps. The video will demonstrate setting up Playwright and Artillery scripts, creating a scaffolding project, and using Artillery for load testing with headless browsers.

Requirements

Perform synthetic or load tests against a website you have control over.
Ensure you have authorization for the website you are testing.
Write test functions in JavaScript.
Use Chrome as the browser for load tests.
Set up Playwright and Artillery scripts.
Use npm to initialize Playwright and install Artillery globally.
Create a function for Artillery scripts to use Playwright tests.
Configure Artillery with a YAML file specifying the target, engine, and test functions.
