Summary

The Enterprise Systems Software Engineering Lead serves as the senior technical authority for Allegiant's SAP ecosystem and related Enterprise Systems portfolio, providing leadership for architecture, security, integrations, development, administration, and ongoing operational support.

This position leads the design, governance, and delivery of technical solutions across SAP functional and basis administration, security, ABAP development, middleware, integrations, and enterprise application infrastructure. The role establishes technical standards and best practices, ensures compliance with regulatory and SOX requirements, directs complex troubleshooting and system optimization efforts, and oversees a team of Software Engineers responsible for supporting critical business operations.

Working closely with business leaders, Enterprise Systems management, vendors, and technology teams, the Software Engineering Lead ensures enterprise systems remain secure, scalable, resilient, and aligned with corporate objectives. The role requires deep expertise in SAP architecture, security, master data management, integrations, and software engineering, while providing strategic guidance for the evolution of Allegiant's enterprise application landscape.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Education Details:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, MIS, or related technical discipline.

Years of Experience:

Minimum eight (8) years of experience supporting, administering, developing, or architecting SAP enterprise solutions.

Minimum three (3) years leading technical teams, projects, or enterprise platform initiatives.

Experience supporting multiple SAP disciplines including functional configuration, technical configuration (Basis), security, development, integrations, and platform administration.

Expert knowledge of SAP S/4HANA architecture and administration.

Working knowledge of SAP Ariba including the ordering, contract, and supplier modules.

Strong understanding of SAP security concepts, role design, segregation of duties, and compliance requirements.

Experience managing SAP technical resources including developers, security administrators, BASIS resources, and integration specialists.

Strong understanding of SAP transports, environments, release management, and change control processes.

Experience supporting integrations with SAP Ariba (CIG), middleware, third-party vendors, and enterprise applications.

Understanding of SDLC, change management, release management, and testing methodologies.

Deep understanding of enterprise application architecture, data flows, and system dependencies.

Experience supporting SOX controls, audits, access governance, and regulatory compliance.

Strong leadership, mentoring, and technical coaching skills.

Exceptional troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

Master’s degree.

SAP certifications in technical, security, development, or architecture disciplines.

Experience with SAP BTP, Fiori, SAP Cloud solutions, and integration technologies.

Experience supporting airline, maintenance, finance, procurement, or operational business processes.

Experience with Jira, DevOps, CI/CD, and release management practices.

Experience managing vendor resources and enterprise software support partne4rs.

Experience working in FAA and SOX-regulated environments.

Job Duties

Technical Leadership & Governance

Provide technical leadership for Allegiant’s SAP ecosystem and related enterprise applications.

Establish engineering standards, development practices, security standards, and operational procedures.

Review technical designs, architecture decisions, integrations, and development approaches.

Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and supportability requirements.

Mentor and develop technical team members across multiple SAP and Ariba disciplines.

SAP and Ariba Platform Ownership

Oversee administration, support, availability, performance, and health of SAP and Ariba applications.

Coordinate platform maintenance, upgrades, patching, refreshes, and technology roadmaps.

Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational readiness activities.

Ensure environment integrity across Development, QA, and Production systems.

Security & Compliance Leadership

Oversee SAP and Ariba security administration and access governance processes.

Ensure compliance with segregation of duties requirements, SOX controls, and audit expectations.

Review access designs, role structures, privileged access, and security-related changes.

Support internal and external audit activities.

Development & Integration Oversight

Guide technical design and development efforts across SAP and Ariba for customizations, enhancements, reports, interfaces, and integrations

Review code quality, technical documentation, testing strategies, and release readiness.

Lead complex troubleshooting efforts across applications, integrations, data flows, and infrastructure dependencies.

Coordinate vendor and support partner activities when technical expertise is required.

Ensure Allegiant’s change management policies are adhered to.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

Evaluate emerging SAP and Ariba technologies and recommend improvements.

Identify automation opportunities that improve reliability, supportability, compliance, and user experience.

Lead technical initiatives that reduce technical debt and improve platform performance.

Support modernization and transformation efforts across the Enterprise Systems portfolio.

Allegiant Duties

Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
