In a world of AI and endless data, why do so few people — and organizations — generate insights that actually change anything? Jeff Kavanaugh argues the answer isn't more analysis. It's more humanity. Drawing on over a decade of research, Jeff reveals a practical five-step process for generating insights consistently — and shows why empathy, not analytics, is the ingredient most people skip. The result: a self-reinforcing cycle of learning, growth, and impact that gets stronger with every iteration. Jeff Kavanaugh is the Chief Learner and Sharer of the Infosys Knowledge Institute, the global business research hub he founded in 2018. As a consulting managing partner, and adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Dallas, he has advised leading companies and taught thousands of students worldwide. His work on durable skills and talent development has appeared in Harvard Business Review and other top publications, and he speaks regularly at global forums including the World Economic Forum and the United Nations. He is also the author of three award-winning books, including Consulting Essentials, recognized as one of the best business consulting books of all time. He lives in the Fort Worth area. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
