The Basics:

Tanium is seeking a highly motivated, proactive attorney to join its legal team as Employment Counsel. The right person for this position must be a team player who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, has a pragmatic approach to problem solving, and is passionate about employment law and its practical application in a complex, global technology business. This person will serve as a trusted advisor to our People team and business stakeholders, helping Tanium attract, develop, and retain top talent while managing legal risk.&nbsp;

This position follows Tanium’s hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA.

What you’ll do:

<ul>

<li>Provide strategic advice and counsel to the People team and business stakeholders on a broad range of U.S. employment issues, including recruiting and hiring, onboarding, performance management, disciplinary actions, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, compensation and benefits, pay transparency, contingent workers, employee classification, reorganizations, redundancies, non-competition and non-solicitation, and separations and terminations&nbsp;</li>

<li>Oversee internal workplace investigations, including matters involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower complaints, and policy violations&nbsp;</li>

<li>Investigate and respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audits, and other employment-related inquiries&nbsp;</li>

<li>Manage pre-litigation and litigation matters with the assistance of outside counsel as needed&nbsp;</li>

<li>Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related documents and templates, including offer letters, employment agreements, contingent worker agreements, separation and severance agreements, and release agreements&nbsp;</li>

<li>Develop, review, and update employment policies, standards, and HR guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws&nbsp;</li>

<li>Support Tanium’s federal contractor compliance obligations, including OFCCP compliance evaluations and AAP preparation and maintenance under VEVRAA and Section 503&nbsp;</li>

<li>Advise on legal issues arising from the use of AI tools in recruiting and employment practices&nbsp;</li>

<li>Design and deliver employment related training to the People team, employees and managers&nbsp;</li>

<li>Monitor federal, state, and local employment law developments and proactively communicate changes and their business implications to the People team, leadership, and relevant stakeholders&nbsp;</li>

We’re looking for someone with:

<ul>

<li>At least 5 years of relevant employment law experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department&nbsp;</li>

<li>JD from an accredited institution&nbsp;</li>

<li>Active and in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar&nbsp;</li>

<li>Strong working knowledge of U.S. federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, ADA, FMLA, Title VII, and state equivalents&nbsp;</li>

<li>Experience conducting or managing workplace investigations&nbsp;</li>

<li>Familiarity with federal contractor compliance obligations, including OFCCP audits, AAP preparation, and VEVRAA and Section 503 requirements&nbsp;</li>

What you’ll get

The annual base salary range for this full-time position is $191,000 to $293,000. This range is an estimate for what Tanium will pay a new hire. The actual annual base salary offered may be adjusted based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, training, and experience.&nbsp;
