<p>We are looking for a Senior AI Applications Engineer to join our team and play a key role in shaping the next generation of deeper activity experiences. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of backend engineering and device integrations, collaborating closely with backend, mobile, and AI engineers, as well as clinical teams, to build innovative solutions. Your work will empower members with personalized experiences that enhance engagement and support overall metabolic well-being.</p>
<p><strong>Responsibilities&nbsp;</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Lead the design, development, and deployment of sophisticated AI agents and tools that streamline clinical decision-making, automate complex administrative tasks, and enhance clinical workflows.</li>
<li>Explore and implement the full-stack architecture required for AI-agentic systems, from context engineering, MCP servers, to API design and deployment.</li>
<li>Architect and build robust, scalable backend services and integrations (using Python, Java Spring Boot, SQL) that serve as the foundation for our AI applications.</li>
<li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape the user experience of AI systems, translating clinical and operational needs into concrete technical specifications and prototypes.</li>
<li>Champion best practices for developing reliable, secure, and scalable AI applications, ensuring all solutions meet compliance standards such as HIPAA.</li>
<li>Mentor and coach other engineers, modeling cross-functional thinking and helping to elevate the team’s capabilities in building AI-driven products.</li>
<li>Monitor and optimize the performance of AI systems in production to handle rapid growth and ensure a seamless user experience.</li>
<li>Take on additional responsibilities as needed, including on-call rotations.</li>
<li>Regular travel to our Menlo Park headquarters for planning workshops and team collaboration sessions.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications&nbsp;</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a STEM-related field (Master’s preferred).</li>
<li>5+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in building backend services.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying AI-powered applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) like GPT, Claude, or Gemini.</li>
<li>Strong practical knowledge of prompt engineering, vector databases, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and other techniques for building reliable LLM-based systems.</li>
<li>Proficiency in Java and/or Python and experience developing microservices.</li>
<li>Hands-on experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and query optimization.</li>
<li>Proven ability to work across disciplines, collaborating effectively with product, design, and non-technical stakeholders to build user-centric solutions.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and drive projects from concept to completion.</li>
<li>Experience in healthcare, biosensors, or related fields is a plus but not required.</li>
<li>This remote opportunity based out of the U.S. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.</li>

<p><strong>Compensation and Benefits&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p>
<p>The compensation range for this position is $195,000-$210,000 annually.&nbsp;</p>
