Most Loved Workplace® Certified JobAbout the Role
At Databricks, a Most Loved Workplace® certified employer in the Technology space, Democratizing data and AI for every organization worldwide.
<p>Req ID: FEQ427R358</p>
<p>At Databricks, our core values are at the heart of everything we do. A culture of proactiveness and a customer-centric mindset guides us in creating a unified platform that makes data and AI accessible to everyone. We aim to inspire our customers to make informed decisions that push their business forward. We provide a user-friendly and intuitive platform that makes it easy to turn insights into action and fosters a culture of creativity, experimentation, and continuous improvement.</p>
<p>You will be a vital part of this mission, using your technical expertise to demonstrate how our Data Intelligence Platform can help customers solve their complex data and AI challenges. Digital native companies are born in the cloud and build data and AI products at their core, which makes them among the most technical and demanding buyers we work with. As a Senior Solutions Engineer on our Emerging Enterprise Digital Native team, you will win new logos across the UK &amp; Ireland by proving, hands-on, that the platform solves their hardest problems. You'll work with a collaborative, customer-focused team that values innovation and creativity. Join us in our quest to change how people work with data and make a better world!</p>
<p>Reporting to the Manager, Field Engineering.</p>
<p><strong>The impact you will have:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Partner with an Account Executive and a Senior Solutions Architect to win new digital-native logos across your UK &amp; Ireland territory, and own the technical win.</li>
<li>Run hands-on evaluations and proofs-of-concept that get founders, CTOs, and lead engineers excited. Show the Data Intelligence Platform working against their real data and workloads, not slideware.</li>
<li>Meet technical buyers on their own ground across modern data engineering (Spark, Delta, streaming), machine learning, and Generative AI, and integrate cleanly with their existing cloud and open-source stack.</li>
<li>Move at start-up speed: qualify quickly, prove value early, and land in a way that sets up expansion.</li>
<li>Make the technical and commercial case against competing tools, including cloud data warehouses, open-source stacks, and hyperscaler services.</li>
<li>Demonstrate our Builder Culture and our principle of "show, not tell", supported by the latest AI tooling, to inspire customers on the art of the possible.</li>
<li>Contribute to Databricks' technical community by developing customer-facing collateral and joining workshops, hackathons, seminars, and meet-ups.</li>
<li>Develop technically and in pre-sales, with the goal of operating independently as a Solutions Architect.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What we look for:</strong></p>
<p>We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled individual to join our UK&amp;I Emerging Enterprise / Digital Native Solutions Engineering team, which focuses on winning new digital-native and high-growth technology customers. This role is based in the London office, with regular collaboration across the UK&amp;I region.</p>
<p><strong>Core Technical Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Hands-on experience in technical pre-sales, consultancy, or engineering, ideally with data-native or high-growth technology companies.</li>
<li>Proficiency in a core programming language such as Python, SQL, Scala, or Java, and a willingness to learn (or existing knowledge of) Spark.</li>
<li>Familiarity with a core data or AI domain: modern data engineering, streaming, machine learning, or Generative AI (e.g. RAG, fine-tuning, LLMOps).</li>
<li>Experience with the modern data stack and open-source data tooling, and with at least one major public cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP).</li>
<li>Hands-on expertise in designing and delivering proofs-of-concept (PoCs).</li>
<li>Enthusiasm for building with AI-based development tooling such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Databricks Assistant / Genie.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Pre-Sales &amp; Customer-Facing Skills:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Proven ability to engage customers in a technical sales capacity: building a narrative, challenging assumptions, finding the real pain, and driving to a clear, tangible outcome.</li>
<li>Comfort communicating both technical and business value to diverse audiences, from engineers to founders and executives.</li>
<li>A customer-centric mindset with a passion for building client relationships and internal partnerships with account teams.</li>
<li>Energized by a high-velocity, new-logo motion and comfortable with ambiguity rather than a fixed account set.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Logistics:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Ability to commute to the London office regularly.</li>
<li>Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20-30% of the time across UK&amp;I for customer visits.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Nice to Have:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience selling to or working at start-ups, scaleups, or ISVs.</li>
<li>Databricks or other relevant Cloud/Data certifications.</li>

Why This Is a Most Loved Workplace® Certified Job
Systemic Collaboration
As Databricks continues our rapid growth, we strive to maintain a culture as open and transparent as it was in Databricks’s early days. Making sure employees have regular access to our CEO and co-founders to hear directly about our vision and priorities helps our employees forge a connection between Databricks priorities and their daily work.
Positive Vision for the Future
Databricks’ culture principles are derived from an internal study of the behaviors that have led to high impact work at Databricks. These values have a direct impact on company culture and play a large part in connecting teams across the organization. We believe in being customer-obsessed, truth-seeking, operating from first principles, having a bias for action, and putting Databricks first. Our co-founders are fully involved in day-to-day operations, including business and technical reviews, working alongside our team members to ensure that we are always aligned with our values.
Alignment of Values
Databricks’ CEO and Co-founder, Ali Ghodsi leads by example with a focus on truth-seeking and first principles thinking, two of Databricks’ core values that stay true to Databricks’s origins in academia. He champions the importance of data and reason to question biases and inform decisions. Ali remains hands-on with research and development and hosts company-wide weekly all hands, with a CEO “ask me anytime” session at the beginning of every agenda. His transparency and accessibility are core to the open and collaborative culture of Databricks.
Respect
At Databricks, we cultivate an environment where all employees can bring their unique selves and are empowered to do the best work of their careers. To ensure all voices are heard and ideas are valued, we conduct annual culture and pulse surveys and host all-hands Q&As to collect feedback from all employees. We then report back to Databricks on the specific changes implemented from the feedback collected to ensure employees feel heard and that their feedback is valued. In addition, we invest in our seven Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that offer support and employee engagement events for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds and allies.
Killer Outcomes
Databricks prioritizes offering an exceptional employee experience by investing in tools, workspaces, and community-building. Our collaboration-first, hybrid model offers flexibility with in-person touchpoints like our annual employee kickoff, weekly CEO all-hands with happy hours, and monthly team building budgets. We are especially focused on maintaining a culture of transparency, honesty, and trust, with leaders actively engaging across channels like Slack and all hands while also championing inclusion efforts through ERG sponsorship. These initiatives help our team feel connected, valued, and empowered to do their best work.
