<p>The Payroll Tax Manager will be our internal subject matter expert on all things payroll tax, advising payroll, equity, HR, and accounting teams on legislative changes, validating existing and new positions, developing global payroll tax policy, and generally helping the business better understand and report its payroll tax obligations. This role will also lead all payroll tax audits and inquiries from revenue authorities while advising the business on best practices and minimizing payroll tax risk. The Payroll Tax Manager’s role is to elevate all of their partners' operations and ensure the business and its employees (Bricksters) are reporting the right amount of tax in the right periods.</p>

<p>Payroll Tax Advisory</p>
<ul>
<li>Partner with our global payroll team to review payroll tax calculations and document technical positions.</li>
<li>Identify opportunities for refunds or otherwise de-risk our global payroll tax positions.</li>
<li>Support M&amp;A integration to ensure pre- and post-close payroll tax positions are supported and optimized for the business.</li>
<li>Work alongside our equity administration group to validate equity withholding and assist with other shareholder transaction planning.</li>
<li>Assist our payroll team with global payroll tax communications and responses to employee inquiries.</li>
<li>Collaborate with other tax team members on payroll tax matters that impact our global direct and indirect tax matters, such as gross receipts taxes and business-level employer taxes.</li>
<li>Partner with our equity administration team to ensure that equity tax reporting is accurately reflected in our payroll tax filings and collaborate to solve cross-functional payroll tax matters.</li>
</ul>
<p>Audit Readiness</p>
<ul>
<li>Lead global payroll tax audits (internal and external) by responding to information requests, communicating our positions, and remediating any identified exposures.</li>
<li>Guide global payroll tax policy and implementation.</li>
<li>Assist the accounting team to help reconcile payroll tax accounts, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.</li>
<li>Maintain comprehensive documentation to support compliance and audit requirements.</li>
</ul>
<p>Leadership &amp; Cross-Functional Collaboration</p>
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with HR, Finance, Accounting, Equity Administration, Legal, and Benefits on cross-functional initiatives including employee versus EOR decisions, and new entity creation.</li>
<li>Participate in M&amp;A due diligence and integration activities to ensure accurate tax setup and reporting.</li>
<li>Partner with our Finance Data Team and other stakeholders to re-imagine the payroll tax reporting process and identify opportunities to build on Databricks technology.</li>
</ul>

<p>Required Qualifications</p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.</li>
<li>5+ years of payroll tax experience.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of US federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.</li>
<li>Knowledge of international payroll tax regulations.</li>
<li>Knowledge of equity compensation tax matters.</li>
<li>Experience with payroll systems and tax filing platforms (SAP, NetSuite, Workday preferred).</li>
<li>Experience leveraging automation tools or AI at work.</li>
<li>Experience with payroll tax audits and negotiating with revenue authorities.</li>
<li>Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.</li>
</ul>
<p>Preferred Qualifications</p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with Workday.</li>
<li>Experience with mobility tax issues (state-to-state or country-to-country).</li>
<li>Experience in large, complex, multinational organizations.</li>
