About the Role

At Databricks, a Most Loved Workplace® certified employer in the Technology space, Democratizing data and AI for every organization worldwide.

GAQ126R41

About Databricks

At Databricks, our mission is to help data teams solve the world's toughest problems—and that begins with empowering our own employees with exceptional internal products. The Databricks IT organization is a product-led engineering team building intelligent, AI-powered platforms that simplify how work gets done across Databricks. For Finance, our vision is to eliminate manual, repetitive work by automating complex business processes, surfacing actionable insights, and orchestrating end-to-end workflows. We are reimagining finance operations so teams spend less time processing transactions, chasing approvals, and resolving exceptions, and more time delivering strategic insights that accelerate the business.

We're looking for an SAP Functional SME to own the functional design of our core finance processes on S/4HANA and to shape how AI and agentic automation reimagine them. In this role, you'll be the deep functional authority for your domain—translating how the business actually runs into standard, clean-core S/4HANA solutions, using process intelligence to find what's broken, and defining where AI belongs in a controlled, auditable process. You'll work at the intersection of SAP and AI, bridging Finance and Engineering to deliver a simpler, smarter, more automated experience.

The Opportunity

SAP will serve as the foundation for Databricks' core finance processes, including Record-to-Report, Source-to-Pay, and Order-to-Cash. As the SAP Functional SME, you'll own the functional blueprint for those processes—leading discovery and AS-IS/TO-BE design, configuring S/4HANA, and defining the requirements for the intelligent, agentic layer that automates routine work and guides users through exceptions and approvals. You'll use process mining and business process intelligence to quantify opportunity and prioritize what to build, and you'll make the call on where AI-driven recommendations belong versus deterministic rules. Your mission is to combine deep functional expertise with the power of Databricks AI to create a modern, highly automated finance experience that lets the business scale.

What You'll Do

Own Functional Design: Lead end-to-end process discovery and AS-IS/TO-BE design for major finance processes (Record-to-Report, Source-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash), define S/4HANA solution scope, and design to standard, clean-core capabilities wherever possible.

Configure S/4HANA: Own functional configuration, business rules, and master-data strategy for your domain, and partner with developers on extensions, APIs, and orchestration where standard functionality falls short.

Drive Process Intelligence: Use process mining and business process intelligence (leveraging SAP Process Intelligence and related tools) to identify root causes, quantify opportunity, and prioritize improvements; translate those findings into concrete S/4HANA requirements.

Shape the AI & Agentic Layer: Define the requirements for AI-assisted and agentic process improvements—task automation, intelligent recommendations, anomaly detection, and generative assistants—and make clear judgments about where AI belongs in a controlled, auditable process, where human-in-the-loop is required, and where a deterministic rule is the better answer.

Bridge Business and Engineering: Serve as the connective tissue between Finance process owners and the engineering pods, partnering with architects and developers to embed AI safely and to define the data flows between S/4HANA, process intelligence tools, SAP BTP, and Databricks AI.

Run Workshops and Validate Value: Facilitate stakeholder workshops to validate business value, define acceptance criteria, and lead user acceptance testing for both functional and AI features.

Measure Outcomes: Define KPIs and track ROI for process improvements—cycle time, touchless transaction rate, exception and manual-touch reduction, adoption—and build the business cases for prioritized automation and AI initiatives.

Enable Adoption: Coach and upskill process owners and functional teams on process intelligence, best practices, and AI adoption, and drive readiness and change management for what you ship.

What You Bring

6+ years of SAP functional consulting experience, with hands-on delivery across at least one full S/4HANA lifecycle and deep expertise in one or more finance domains—Record-to-Report, Source-to-Pay, or Order-to-Cash—plus working fluency in adjacent areas and in master-data governance.

Process Intelligence: Demonstrated experience leading process discovery, process mapping, and process mining using SAP Process Intelligence or equivalent BPI tools, and translating mining outputs into solution requirements.

Clean-Core Mindset: Strong bias toward standard, clean-core S/4HANA design, with sound judgment about when a requirement genuinely warrants an extension versus a change in process.

AI & Agentic Automation: Practical experience applying Databricks AI and agentic capabilities to enterprise processes, with strong judgment on where AI can drive automation and decision support while maintaining appropriate governance, controls, auditability, and human oversight.

Integration Awareness: Solid understanding of integration patterns (APIs/OData, IDoc, SAP Integration Suite / BTP) and the data requirements that feed process mining and AI models.

Governance Rigor: Working knowledge of SAP authorizations, SoD, SOX and audit requirements, and the ability to design processes and automation that satisfy them.

Stakeholder Leadership: Excellent workshop facilitation, stakeholder management, and change-management skills, and the ability to present executive-level ROI and translate technical capability into measurable business value.

Business-First Mindset: Pragmatic, outcome-driven approach to reducing process waste and risk, and comfort leading through ambiguity across complex business and IT landscapes.

Preferred Qualifications

SAP S/4HANA Associate or Professional certification for a relevant module, and SAP Activate methodology experience.

Certification or training in SAP Process Intelligence, or experience with Celonis or other process mining vendors.

Hands-on experience delivering at least one AI-assisted process improvement in production.

Familiarity with the SAP AI and extension stack (BTP, AI Core, Joule) and a point of view on build-versus-adopt tradeoffs against a Databricks-native approach.

Experience working alongside data teams to make ERP data usable for analytics and AI on modern data platforms (such as Databricks), and prior work in a high-growth technology company where ERP had to scale quickly.

Why This Is a Most Loved Workplace® Certified Job

S

Systemic Collaboration

As Databricks continues our rapid growth, we strive to maintain a culture as open and transparent as it was in Databricks’s early days. Making sure employees have regular access to our CEO and co-founders to hear directly about our vision and priorities helps our employees forge a connection between Databricks priorities and their daily work.

P

Positive Vision for the Future

Databricks’ culture principles are derived from an internal study of the behaviors that have led to high impact work at Databricks. These values have a direct impact on company culture and play a large part in connecting teams across the organization. We believe in being customer-obsessed, truth-seeking, operating from first principles, having a bias for action, and putting Databricks first. Our co-founders are fully involved in day-to-day operations, including business and technical reviews, working alongside our team members to ensure that we are always aligned with our values.

A

Alignment of Values

Databricks’ CEO and Co-founder, Ali Ghodsi leads by example with a focus on truth-seeking and first principles thinking, two of Databricks’ core values that stay true to Databricks’s origins in academia. He champions the importance of data and reason to question biases and inform decisions. Ali remains hands-on with research and development and hosts company-wide weekly all hands, with a CEO “ask me anytime” session at the beginning of every agenda. His transparency and accessibility are core to the open and collaborative culture of Databricks.

R

Respect

At Databricks, we cultivate an environment where all employees can bring their unique selves and are empowered to do the best work of their careers. To ensure all voices are heard and ideas are valued, we conduct annual culture and pulse surveys and host all-hands Q&As to collect feedback from all employees. We then report back to Databricks on the specific changes implemented from the feedback collected to ensure employees feel heard and that their feedback is valued. In addition, we invest in our seven Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that offer support and employee engagement events for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds and allies.

K

Killer Outcomes

Databricks prioritizes offering an exceptional employee experience by investing in tools, workspaces, and community-building. Our collaboration-first, hybrid model offers flexibility with in-person touchpoints like our annual employee kickoff, weekly CEO all-hands with happy hours, and monthly team building budgets. We are especially focused on maintaining a culture of transparency, honesty, and trust, with leaders actively engaging across channels like Slack and all hands while also championing inclusion efforts through ERG sponsorship. These initiatives help our team feel connected, valued, and empowered to do their best work.
